Dublin, Ireland; 15, 02, 2023 (Business Wire) — In January 2023, WHYZE Health Ltd. and Blackrock Health Galway Clinic began a pilot study of WHYZE Health’s platform. “WHYZE and Blackrock Health Galway Clinic are working together to demonstrate the real-world evidence power of patient-reported outcomes, coupled with the use of AI to aid the physicians when selecting treatment choices for patients, to improve health outcomes and quality of care,” said WHYZE Health CEO Frances Abeton.

Through real-world evidence, the WHYZE Health Platform aids the delivery of informed prostate cancer treatment plans for patients. Using patients’ health data, test results, and patient-reported outcomes (PROMs), the WHYZE Health Platform aids physicians in selecting the treatment options that best meet their patient’s needs, driving better health outcomes for patients. “Our patients routinely use PROMs throughout the full cycle of their care, allowing us to measure the quality and value of brachytherapy in their management. The WHYZE Health portal will allow us to analyse these data systematically and in real time and, for the first time, provide real-world outcome feedback to our patients and their care teams,” said Prof. Frank Sullivan, Clinical Director Radiation Oncology, Galway Clinic and Prostate Cancer Institute University of Galway, who also serves as the Chief Medical Officer of WHYZE Health.

The WHYZE Health Platform tracks the patient’s progress and collects relevant real-world evidence (RWE) throughout the entire health cycle of the patient’s treatment plan, including follow-ups. The platform offers an intuitive, easy-to-use tool that gives patients more control over their course of care, taking into account individual risk factors and desired outcomes for each patient. The platform tracks patient progress and empowers patients to choose the options that drive better health outcomes. Providers can share healthcare data with patients and allow online scheduling of upcoming appointments. The WHYZE Health platform drives a patient-centered transition to healthcare by bringing health and research opportunities directly to healthcare providers and patients, advancing global awareness of clinical trials and enabling better health outcomes. Physicians use WHYZE Health data to streamline the care they provide, reduce diagnostic timelines, and improve patient outcomes.

“Through collaborating with WHYZE Health, Blackrock Health is part of creating innovation that measures the quality of care and improved outcomes for prostate cancer patients. Integration of digital technologies into our hospital services is key to the connection and communication with our patients and is the future of healthcare,” said Evelyn Smyth, Interim CEO of Galway Clinic.

The WHYZE Health pilot study is part of the Health Innovation Hub Ireland Open Call 2022. The HIHI Open Call provides companies with the opportunity to work with healthcare organisations to show the efficacy and value of their products in a live environment. These pilots highlight the benefits of novel solutions to the needs of patients, healthcare staff, and the healthcare system. In turn, successful pilots demonstrating value should be considered must-haves for modern patient-centered healthcare systems. “By giving patients more control over their care and streamlining treatment options for physicians,” said Dr. Tanya Mulcahy, Director of Health Innovation Hub Ireland, “the WHYZE Health Platform has the potential to improve health outcomes and advance the transition to patient-centered healthcare.”

HIHI Response
“At Health Innovation Hub Ireland, we are committed to finding and piloting cutting-edge solutions that improve the quality of care for patients. The WHYZE Health Platform is a prime example of this, as it utilizes real-world evidence and patient-reported outcomes to aid in the delivery of informed prostate cancer treatment plans. By giving patients more control over their care and streamlining treatment options for physicians, the WHYZE Health Platform has the potential to improve health outcomes and advance the transition to patient-centered healthcare. We are excited about this pilot study and look forward to seeing the positive impact it will have on the healthcare system.”

Frances Abeton, CEO WHYZE Health
“We are honored at WHYZE to be part of the HIHI Open Call 2022. WHYZE and the Galway Clinic are working together to demonstrate real-world evidence power of patient-reported outcomes, coupled with the use of AI to aid the physicians when selecting treatment choices for patients, to improve health outcomes and quality of care,” said WHYZE Health CEO Frances Abeton. “This is the next evolution of healthcare to enable all stakeholders to facilitate a patient-centered transition to collaborative care and research approach.”

Prof. Frank Sullivan, Clinical Director Radiation Oncology, Galway Clinic and Prostate Cancer Institute University of Galway
“Measuring the quality of the health outcomes we are achieving has been at the heart of our prostate brachytherapy (radiation) programme here in Blackrock Health Galway Clinic since the programme’s inception in 2006,” says Prof. Frank Sullivan, Clinical Director Radiation Oncology, Galway Clinic and Prostate Cancer Institute University of Galway. Prof. Sullivan also serves as the Chief Medical Officer WHYZE Health. “Our patients routinely use PROMs throughout the full cycle of their care, allowing us to measure the quality and value of brachytherapy in their management. The WHYZE Health portal will allow us to analyse these data systematically and in real time and, for the first time, provide real-world outcome feedback to our patients and their care teams. This allows Irish men to assess how their treatment results compare with other ‘men like them.’ We are so excited to be undertaking this trial with our partners in Blackrock Health and HIHI. Quality and value should be at the heart of everything we do in modern healthcare. In the near future, we also hope to be able to assess our patients’ suitability for clinical trials where appropriate.”

Evelyn Smyth, Interim CEO Galway Clinic
“Our patients at the Blackrock Health Galway Clinic are at the centre of our strategic priorities. Their needs and safety come first in every decision we make. Through collaborating with WHYZE Health, Blackrock Health is part of creating innovation that measures the quality of care and improved outcomes for prostate cancer patients. Integration of digital technologies into our hospital services is key to the connection and communication with our patients and is the future of healthcare,” said Evelyn Smyth, Interim CEO Galway Clinic.
